Setshabelo’s Commitment to Families and Children
Setshabelo Family and Child Services (SFCS) was established in 2014 after engagement with the community about their needs. The research was done in collaboration with various stakeholders including the Department of Social Development (DSD),the municipality, schools, churches, community organisations and NGOs with the support of Bethany Christian Services.
The outcome of the study found a clear need for a designated child protection organisation capacitated to provide full Child Protection Services support of the local DSD office.
Our primary area of operation is in Botshabelo, a township in the Free State province in South Africa. We do also give some of our services to other parts of the province.
Collaborating with local churches, schools, community organisations, public and private business, we give out our intervention services to families. These include: gender-based violence services, family support services, youth programs, programs for me, foster care and adoption services. We also have a temporary place of safety for children who are in dire situations. These are all geared towards safe-guarding the interests of children and preserving families.
